Aside from the people involved, there may not be a more important aspect of education than curriculum. Students are why we do what we do, and curriculum, instruction, and learning is what we do. The Curriculum Instruction and Assessment for the Success of All Learners competency is an area of strength for me and I believe that this is the competency area that I have grown the most in the last year. I have had opportunities to grow through my work on the ESSA school improvement team at the ALC, a Networked Improvement Committee (NIC) conducted with other ALCs in Minnesota, membership on the Staff Development committee, and several classes through the Educational Leadership program. The aspect that I'm most excited about is the development of a competency-based grading system that we are in the process of developing for the Fergus Falls ALC. It will bring our instruction to a new level of individualization that will help ensure the success of all learners at the ALC.
